Jay Ryan to play adult Ben Hanscom when It: Chapter Two floats into theaters

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Another member of the "Losers' Club" has been cast by New Line Cinema with Jay Ryan now set to star as the adult version of Ben Hanscom for Andy Muschietti's IT: CHAPTER TWO. Jeremy Ray Taylor, who played the young version of the character in the 2017 box office smash, is also rumored to appear in the film.

If you're looking to scope out Ryan's acting chops, you can tune in to the eOne/Hulu drama series MARY KILLS PEOPLE, where he stars as Ben Wesley/Joel Collins. The show focuses on a single mother named Mary Harris, an ER doctor by day, but by night she and her partner, a former plastic surgeon, moonlight as underground angels of death who help terminally ill patients slip away on their own terms. It's like a Kevorkian meet cute. What's not to love?

Ryan first arrived on the acting scene via a one person show entitled THE PACKER, in which he played eight characters. According to Deadline, the performance has been met with high praise coming from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where reviewers likened his performance to a live stage version of TRAINSPOTTING re-situated in New Zealand. Ryan has also appeared on The CW's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST program as Vincient Keller / Dr. Vincient Keller / Alistair.

When Jay Ryan floats onto the production of IT: CHAPTER TWO, he'll be joining an impressive list of castmembers including: Bill Skarsgard, Jessica Chastain, James Ransone, James McAvoy, Bill Hader and Andy Bean. The young versions of the "Losers' Club" members are also rumored to be returning for the sequel, though no official word on that front has been issued at this time.

IT: CHAPTER TWO will see the adult versions of the "Losers' Club" returning to Derry after Pennywise the Dancing Clown awakens from his 27-year long slumber. The sequel will float into theaters on September 6, 2019.
