As MGM's new digital platform, Stargate Command, prepares for launch, we've been given our first look at STARGATE ORIGINS, the new 10-episode digital series based on the beloved sci-fi franchise. Along with the trailer comes a premiere date for the series, which is now set to explore galaxies unknown beginning on February 15th.
Written by Mark Ilvedson and Justin Michael Terry and directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan, STARGATE ORIGINS will depict a brand-new chapter in the on-going space adventure featuring Catherine Langford’s (Ellie Gall) early history surrounding the extraordinary portal built by her father during her preadolescence. As part of the show's plot, a young Catherine will embark on an unexpected mission to unlock the mystery of what lies beyond the Stargate in order to save the Earth from darkness.
Joining Gall for the new series will be STARGATE ATLANTIS veteran Connor Trinneer, who is set to return to the franchise as Catherine's father, Professor Langford. Also signed to be a part of Catherine's extraordinary journey are support cast members Salome Azizi, Philip Alexander, Michelle Jubilee Gonzalez, Daniel Rashid, Sarah Navratil, Shvan Aladdin, Tonatiuh Elizarraraz, Derek Chariton, Justin Michael Terry and Lincoln Werner Hoppe.
The new Stargate show presented by New Form and MGM’s Digital Group is sure to be anticipated by fans of the series, as it is sure to address several questions the fandom has had concerning the remarkable Stargate technology since Roland Emmerich's original 1994 feature film.
Also, is it just me or does that teaser trailer have a bit of a The Misadventures of INDIANA JONES' Marion Ravenwood vibe going for it? Truth be told, I'm excited about this show. I've been a fan of the Stargate franchise for quite some time, and if this new series offers me something akin to STAR TREK: DISCOVERY (but for Stargate), my body will be ready.
