Bill Hader Unleashes Unhinged Mischief in the Wild New The Cat in the Hat Trailer

Like many kids across the globe, I grew up reading the twisted and colorful works of Dr. Seuss, a creator of children’s entertainment so legendary that his work continues to enrich the minds of generations to come. Today, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation dropped the latest trailer for The Cat in the Hat, an animated reimagining of the weird and wild writer’s 1957 children’s book.

A Bold New Look for an Iconic Cat

Directed by Erica Rivinoja and Alessandro Carloni, The Cat in the Hat presents Seuss’s timeless tale of off-the-wall shenanigans like never before, with a bold, new CGI-animated film that looks vibrantly cell-shaded and exploding with personality. The upcoming film stars Saturday Night Live and Barry alum Bill Hader as the Cat in the Hat, voicing the iconic character as an unhinged menace who believes playtime has become boring, and the only cure is to let your imagination soar.

What Is the New Cat in the Hat Movie About?

“Meet the Cat in the Hat you don’t know! In the wonderfully whimsical tradition of Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat comes to the big screen in his animated theatrical feature film debut, an all-new, epic adventure with an edge, where mischief, magic and mayhem reign supreme. Doing what he does best, the Cat—voiced by Bill Hader—spreads joy to kids in his hilarious, signature and singularly irreverent way, transporting them and audiences on a fantastical journey through a world they’ve never seen before. In the film, our hero takes on his toughest assignment yet for the I.I.I.I. (Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC): to cheer Gabby and Sebastian, a pair of siblings struggling with their move to a new town. Known for taking things too far, this could be this agent of chaos’s last chance to prove himself…or lose his magical hat!”

An All-Star Voice Cast

Alongside Hader, the film boasts a stacked voice cast including Matt Berry, Quinta Brunson, Xochitl Gomez, Giancarlo Esposito, America Ferrera, Tituss Burgess, Bowen Yang, Paula Pell, and Tiago Martinez.

Bill Hader Is the Unhinged Cat We Needed

Alright, WB, you finally got me with this new trailer. I’m loving Hader’s version of the Cat in the Hat. He’s completely deranged, reminding me of a fur-covered, Willy Wonka-like madman with a mind filled with zany ideas for how to inject a new brand of fun into a rainy afternoon. I can’t wait to see this officially!

The Cat in the Hat arrives in theaters on November 6, 2026.
