Joss Whedon gets screenwriting credit on Justice League

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

No one ever really knows exactly what goes on behind-the-scenes on a movie set, and furthermore the ones that do rarely tell all. Hell, even actors and crew members that live through troubled productions only know what they see with their own eyes, and rely on rumors themselves. So we'll probably never get the full story about the shenanigans going on behind-the-scenes on the JUSTICE LEAGUE set. But we'll sure know about the spin, come promotion time.

This is all to say that Joss Whedon getting a co-writing credit with Chris Terrio is telling. See, when you touch up a script, you don't get credits (in fact, Whedon has touched up a lot of films over his career, including many in the first two phases of the MCU). That's because dialogue, character, and massaging things aren't enough – according to the WGA – to get a co-writing credit. Massive (or at least significant) changes are needed on a structural level to be considered…meaning Whedon might be making some pretty decent changes to the story. This fits the narrative, including the long and expensive reshoot process (which is long and expensive, even for big-budget tentpole films).

All I can say, is I hope it all works out. Meanwhile, Zack Snyder and Chris Terrio share the story by credits, so that's also something to consider.

Either way,, JUSTICE LEAGUE will avenge theaters nationwide November 17th.
