Jessica Chastain is ready to make James McAvoy cry in X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The X-Men have faced some serious foes in the past, but in their next adventure – X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX – they will face their most dangerous enemy yet: Jessica Chastain. The actress has signed on to play the villainous empress Lilandra in the upcoming film, and to mark what is possibly the beginning of her shoot on the movie she took to Instagram to mock Professor X himself – James McAvoy.

In the post she hints she’s on her way up to the movie’s shooting location, and when there will make McAvoy, quote, “cry so hard.” She is so strong! Look what she is doing to his cheek, the most durable part of the body and the most difficult to pinch.

Hey @jamesmcavoyrealdeal you ready for me up in Montreal? Im gonna make you cry so hard 😈 #xmen @simondavidkinberg

The actress will join series vets McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, and APOCALYPSE additions Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Olivia Munn, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Alexandra Shipp and more.

I love Chastain and am over-the-moon about her playing this big baddie in this new film, but I’m also a little worried. Oscar Isaac is also an incredible talent (the two worked wonders together in A MOST VIOLENT YEAR), but X-MEN: APOCALYPSE didn’t quite utilize him and the movie focused on introducing a new slew of young heroes. Hopefully, they won’t make the same mistake again and will succeed in making Chastain a villain worth fearing.

X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX arrives November 2, 2018.
