THE DARK TOWER has gone through many ups and downs over the course of getting made, but in less than a month the highly anticipated Stephen King adaptation will bust into theaters with Idris Elba as The Gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey as the Man in Black. The two will go head-to-head in a battle of good vs. evil, dark vs. light and fireballs vs. bullets. Fireballs certainly have my bet, but based on this new trailer for the movie their battle will be much more even-handed and epic than anyone could imagine. Take a look, and place you bets on the victor now!
On the surface, TOWER could be a solid end-of-the-summer action flick led by two terrific actors, if possibly not a whole lot more. Elba and McConaughey look fully committed to the roles, and in particular it could be an experience to see McConaughey as the villain, usually because he’s seen as the tanned, charming hero in other action flicks he’s done. I don’t know if I could handle a whole franchise of these films, but I’ll for sure see this one, if only finally see something come from years and years of trying to get this thing made.
