Jared Leto cast as Andy Warhol in the cleverly-titled biopic Warhol

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

After unsuccessfully playing a real person in CHAPTER 27 (where he famously got gout trying to go "method" by gaining weight to play Mark David Chapman), Jared Leto is going to give the biopic game another go. And it seems Leto's going to be playing a role that's a little closer-to-home, namely another pretentious weirdo, Andy Warhol. Also Leto and Warhol kind of look similar, so that always helps.

Whatever your feelings on Warhol, there's no denying he made a stamp on the art world (for better or worse), and whatever your feelings on Leto, he certainly is an actor. I mean, I don't really think Leto is a bad actor per se. Put him in certain roles and he'll do well, like DALLAS BUYERS CLUB, MR. NOBODY, or LORD OF WAR (he's also good in FIGHT CLUB, where he gets his face punched in). However, whether it was David Ayers' writing and directing, or Jared Leto's acting choices (probably a little from column A, a little from column B), but his performance as the Joker is, in my opinion, the worst thing involving clown make-up since John Wayne Gacy.

Terence Winter, who wrote WOLF OF WALL STREET will pen the screenplay (based on a 1989 biograpy), which means the film will probably be over four-hours long with endless subplots and flashbacks. But hopefully it will also be fun.

Jared Leto will next be seen in Denis Villeneuve's BLADE RUNNER 2 alongside Ryan Gosling, which comes out October 5, 2017.

So what's your guys' feelings on this? Any 30 Seconds to Mars fans out there?
