It’s 2015. This is when Marty McFly goes into the future in BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II. Where are our self-lacing Nikes, flying cars and JAWS 19, and how come no one has made wearing two neckties fashionable yet?
Hoverboards are on the list of things no one made a reality either, but that hasn’t stopped Universal from creating their own fictional TV commercial for the product that still somehow doesn’t exist. Featuring some dude who really loves calling us “brah,” the spot taunts us quite heavily with what could have been, as if no one got the memo that 2015 would eventually get here, rendering all those years since 1989 wasted on other pieces of technology that never quite amounted to much. (I’m looking at you, Sega CD.)
All we’re left to do is dream on and hope for some sort of miracle to hit on October 21, as if all these products were being secretly made all this time to be unveiled in one of the best secrets ever kept. I’m not holding my breath though.
