Paul Feig reveals the character names of the four new Ghostbusters

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

So, despite everything about GHOSTBUSTERS appearing to be a full reboot, I have still seen comments from folks who are convinced the characters in Paul Feig's new film are somehow connected to the original film's roster. I saw one comment that posited that Kristen Wiig's character would be named Venkman. I am sure that would have been the final straw for a lot of angry fans.

Well, Feig has taken to Twitter to reveal the names of the four main characters in GHOSTBUSTERS. Check it out below.

That's right: they are just names! There is no homage or reference to be gleaned from these four names, but it should put the final nail in the coffin that GHOSTBUSTERS is in any way a sequel to Ivan Reitman's movie. It feels pretty ridiculous that I even have to put disclaimers like this in a story about any movie but there are individuals out there who have taken their hate for GHOSTBUSTERS to a ridiculous degree. I mean, we haven't seen anything but still photos and people are lighting torches and grabbing pitchforks. I have said it once and I will say it again: I don't see anything about GHOSTBUSTERS that bothers me. Yeah, it is a remake. Get over it! The absolute worst thing this movie can do is suck and if it does you will forget about it a week later.

GHOSTBUSTERS opens on July 22, 2016.
