Update: WB has confirmed the below synopsis is the real deal.

It doesn't take a Lex Luthor to figure out the plot to a movie entitled BATMAN V SUPERMAN, but there's always a nice sense of finality that comes with a studio's official synopsis for a film such as this. It's too early to tell how the outcome will fare but by this time next year, we will have seen Batman and Superman duke it out on the big screen! How cool is that?!? In any event, Collider is reporting that they've gotten their hands on the official synopsis. Real deal or no, it looks like what we can expect see.

The synopsis, as listed by Collider:

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

So what do you make of this new threat? Lex Luthor? And how do Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa's Aquaman fit into the picture? Many complained that Marvel's AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON felt like it was setting up too much to be enjoyable on its own, and given the DAWN OF JUSTICE moniker, I hope this film doesn't feel the same way. Regardless, one of the most ambitious comic book movies of all time is on the horizon. Let's see if Zack Snyder and Co. can deliver.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
