The Crow creator wants Sam Witwer for the lead role

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Last month we heard from the Eric Draven to be, Luke Evans, that THE CROW reboot was no longer on his schedule. As was absolutely surprising to no one, nothing was really happening with the picture that’s been talked about for years now. F. Javier Gutierrez who was set to direct has walked, leaving relative newcomer Corin Hardy to pick up the directing slack. Creator James O’Barr is still somewhat optimistic about the low-budget reboot hitting screens, and he even has an actor in mind for the lead role: Sam Witwer.

Even if the name doesn’t ring a bell, odds are you’ve seen the fan-favorite actor somewhere before. He entered the Star Wars spotlight for his portrayal of Starkiller in The Force Unleashed videogames, and played Crashdown in Ron Moore’s epic Battlestar Galactica. You could also see him playing bit parts in THE MIST and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Witwer himself seemed keen on the idea of playing Draven, even going as far to say that he’d be happy to mow the creator’s lawn for the rest of his life for a shot as the lead. Now that’s commitment! Hopefully we’ll see something concrete on this soon!
