Yesterday we got a peek at some images from Gil Kenan's POLTERGEIST remake starring Sam Rockwell that delivered pretty much what you'd expect. 20th Century Fox states that Sam Raimi (who serves as producer) and director Gil Kenan are re-imagining and "contemporizing" the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is invaded by angry spirits. The bulk of remakes are generally unwanted by fans of the original so for those hoping for the best, you can get your first taste of what's to come with the trailer below.

I'm afraid to say that I'll probably fall in with the majority of folks who are underwhelmed with this trailer. Everything looks adequately shot and acted, but this preview seems to indicate that the film will copy the original beat for beat. I would have preferred that Raimi and Kenan not try to ape what Spielberg and Hooper created, but maybe it wasn't entirely their call. We'll see how the end product fares in 5 months' time.

POLTERGEIST hits theaters July 24, 2015.
