CBS' Supergirl series has found its James "Jimmy" Olsen in the form of True Blood and Necessary Roughness star Mehcad Brooks. Aaron Ashmore previously portrayed Olsen on the small screen in Smallville, and Sam Huntington played the photojournalist in Bryan Singer's SUPERMAN RETURNS.
But based on the THR's description of the character, it sounds like Mehcad's Olsen will be a little different compared to other versions of the character, and he might be a potential love interest for Kara Zor-El (WHIPLASH's Melissa Benoist) aka Supergirl.
Olsen, in the CBS take, is a photographer at CatCo., where Kara works. He's the salt of the earth and this only makes Kara crush on him even more. The character has recently been living and working in National City, though the reason is still a secret. But with Kara emerging as Supergirl they grow closer.
Arrow and The Flash's Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler are writing and executive producing the series, and there's a chance Supergirl could crossover with both CW shows at some point. There's no word on when CBS will start airing Supergirl, but it will likely debut in late 2015, or sometime in 2016.
