The Fantastic Four’s Toby Kebbell reveals new details about his Dr. Doom

Sigh, I'm really sorry, guys. Toby Kebbell has shared some new details about his Dr. Doom, and like previous news involving THE FANTASTIC FOUR, I have a feeling most of you aren't going to be happy with what he has to say. In a recent interview with Collider, Kebbell talked about Dr. Doom's voice, his new name and origin, and the tone of the Josh Trank movie.

On Doom's voice:

The only thing I can tease you about is what I worked on most was the voice because nobody—even in the cartoons, when I was watching them I was like, “So where’s he from?” There’s a mild change and I’ll tell you because of our history.

On Doom's new name and origin:

He’s Victor Domashev, not Victor Von Doom in our story. And I’m sure I’ll be sent to jail for telling you that. The Doom in ours—I’m a programmer. Very anti-social programmer. And on blogging sites I’m “Doom”.

On the film's tone:

Yeah, it was cool man. Josh, the whole deal, the lo-fi way he did it, the ultra-real. It was just nice to do that. It was nice to be feeling like we had to come to terms with what was given by this incident.

Toby Kebbell also spoke with IGN about Doom's voice, and says the character will have an American accent. However, Kebbell goes on to say his voice will sound like someone who lives in the United States, but obviously isn't from the country, comparing it to an "Eastern European who has been in England." Kebbell says the only thing he had control over with Doom is his voice, so he tried to influence it as much as possible, and wanted him to sound and act the same way the actor imagined Doom when he use to read the comics.

I completely understand wanting to do a modern take on a comic book character who has been around since the 1960s, but I think the filmmakers could do a little better than making him a "very anti-social programmer" who hangs out on blogging sites. What are your thoughts on this latest info on Toby Kebbell's Doom?

THE FANTASTIC FOUR will be in theaters on August 7, 2015.
