Lionsgate has set the date for the upcoming fantasy actioner THE LAST WITCH HUNTER starring Vin Diesel. It will open one year from today on October 23, 2015; so those looking forward to seeing Diesel’s tremendous looking beard can now circle their calendars. So far the only other films being released on this day are JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS and an untitled Warner Bros. horror movie which was set after the Conjuring 2 was recently delayed.
Breck Eisner (THE CRAZIES) directs THE LAST WITCH HUNTER which also stars Game of Thrones beauty Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood and Michael Caine. The story follows an immortal witch hunter (Diesel) who partners with his natural enemy, a female witch (Leslie), to stop the covens of New York City from unleashing a plague on humanity. I smell a sitcom!
The movie sounds like it could be a solid departure for Diesel which can hopefully bring something original to the genre. I look forward to seeing some footage from the movie; you can bet we will post that as soon as it arrives.
