INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3 looks to continue the strong franchise despite not bringing back any major characters or the director of the first two installments. With James Wan working on FAST AND FURIOUS 7, his SAW partner and INSIDIOUS writer Leigh Whannell has stepped into the director’s seat to tell a prequel story involving the supernatural elements from the first films.

Returning from the previous entries are Whannell, Lin Shaye and Angus Sampson who will play the supernatural investigators from the prior movies. New stars include Dermot Mulroney (AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY) and Stefanie Scott (JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS) who will face similar challenges encountered by Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, and Barbara Hershey.

In Insidious: Chapter 3, a twisted new tale of terror begins for a teenage girl and her family, predating the haunting of the Lambert family in the earlier movies and revealing more mysteries of the otherworldly realm The Further.

Focus Features is also running a contest to win a trip to the set of INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3 which you can enter via their Facebook and Twitter pages.

INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3 has big shoes to fill as the first two films were a notch above most of the crap that passes for horror these days by going for atmospheric chills rather than gore and nudity. Hopefully we don’t get another SAW series of diminishing returns beginning with this chapter.

INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3 will hit theaters on May 29, 2015.
