Star Wars: Episode VII still in search of another female lead

JoBloJoBlo

Yes, with yesterday's announcement the cast for J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: EPISODE VII has finally been revealed, however the casting sheet that surfaced last year had descriptions for two female leads. Newcomer Daisy Ridley will be playing one of the leads, and sources have told THR Abrams is still looking for another actress for a big part.

According to the casting sheet, one of the leads is a "late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit," and the other has been described as "also late teens, tough, smart and fit." Some have speculated Daisy Ridley is playing the first lead, which might be Han Solo and Princess Leia's daughter since Ridley is sitting between Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher in the picture of the table reading for EPISODE VII that was released yesterday (see below).

J.J. Abrams met with 12 YEARS A SLAVE's Lupita Nyong'o last month, and at the time it was rumored the actress was being considered to play a descendent of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Maisie Richardson-Sellers was also rumored to be up for a major role in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII as well. Is the part the two actresses were possibly in talks for the one J.J. Abrams is still looking to cast?

I know some of you probably thought we'd be done with casting rumors, but this is STAR WARS and (almost more importantly) a J.J. Abrams' film, so we're not going to have any confirmed information on the project until they want us to know what's going on with the film. In other words, be prepared for plenty more rumors and speculations on STAR WARS: EPISODE VII in the upcoming months.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII starring Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Andy Serkis, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Max Von Sydow, Daisy Ridley, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker is scheduled to be released on December 18th, 2015.
