The LEGO Movie 2 will make everything awesome during Summer 2017

Well, that didn’t take long. After hauling in $150 million domestically, Warner Bros has given the official green light to THE LEGO MOVIE 2 and locked in the release date of May 26, 2017. There is no word on whether directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will return to helm the animated sequel, but with a couple of years lead time, who knows where it could go.

This comes after news that the studio was contemplating whether to go ahead with THE LEGO MOVIE sequel or the already in development NINJAGO movie. Expectations are high that the movie will be #1 this weekend again so I would hope that WB wants to keep the band together and will call on Chris Pratt, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Channing Tatum, Will Forte and Jonah Hill to reprise their voice roles.

THE LEGO MOVIE is definitely worth seeing for kids and adults. The humor is perfectly suited to the toy bricks and the unexpected live action moments really make the whole film a heartwarming experience. There are few animated films outside of Dreamworks and Pixar that can do that, so the studio is going to get what they can.
