Movie news can come from unlikely sources sometimes, like this report from the site The Motley Fool. Never heard of it? Same here, until today. The Motley Fool is an investment company, and according to them, Fox has plans for a Fantastic Four vs X-Men film that will be based on the 1987 comics.

Fox owns the rights to the Fantastic Four and the X-Men characters, who are among the most well-known comic book heroes of all time. After multiple movies in their respective franchises, Fox has now decided to combine the Fantastic Four and the X-Men for an "Avengers"-style movie that could pay off huge for shareholders. Based on a 1987 four issue comic called Fantastic Four vs. X-Men, the movie will see the characters against each other because of secrets regarding the Fantastic Four's origin.

Now, maybe the site is just speculating, but there's also a chance they know something that we don't. Mark Millar has said in the past that the two teams will share the same movie universe, and this isn't the first time a crossover movie has been rumored, so this report doesn't seem completely ridiculous. However, nothing has been officially announced by Fox, and if there is going to be a Fantastic Four vs X-Men movie, it probably won't be out until after X-MEN: APOCALYPSE and Josh Trank's THE FANTASTIC FOUR are released, which means sometime after 2016. I know this is something many fans would love to see, but until there's more solid information about FANTASTIC FOUR VS X-MEN, this is just a rumor for now.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will be in theaters on May 23rd, 2014, and THE FANTASTIC FOUR is scheduled to be released on June 19th, 2015.
