Robert Knepper joins The Hunger Games: Mockingjay in a mysterious new role

You may recognize Robert Knepper from his various television roles on series such as PRISON BREAK, HEROES, and Frank Darabont‘s MOB CITY. On the big screen he has recently played the villain in R.I.P.D. and PERCY JACKSON: SEA OF MONSTERS, but he will be next joining the cast of the already huge ensemble in THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY. The two part conclusion to the Jennifer Lawrence blockbuster franchise is set to start filming this year for a release of MOCKINGJAY PART 1 next November and it appeared that the pivotal roles were all filled. Then this tweet came down today.

A search of any resource on THE HUNGER GAMES yields no results for any character named Antonius which means either that is not the real name of the character or he is a new creation for the expanded film. Either would be a reasonable assumption, but that would be if the role is a substantial one. Deadline says Knepper’s role will be that of a minister in the cabinet of President Snow (Donald Sutherland). So, does this mean anything? Hard to say.

With CATCHING FIRE breaking records and MOCKINGJAY most assuredly to do the same, I would expect the final chapter of the trilogy/quadrilogy to go out with a bang. THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY premieres PART 1 on November 21, 2014 and PART 2 on November 20, 2015.
