This escalated quickly! While I dressed up as Ron Burgundy for my Halloween costume, I did not go to quite the same lengths as Paul Gerke, sportscaster for a Boise, Idaho FOX station. Gerke dressed in Will Ferrell‘s character’s trademark suit and mustache and delivered the news completely in character. With ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES hitting theaters in just a couple of months, there is a renewed interest in the character.
Now, this isn’t some short little costumed appearance by the newscaster. Gerke holds character for almost the entire news broadcast, including an onsite report from a high school football game as Ron Burgundy. He even plugs Dodge as Will Ferrell has been doing in commercials. In the end, this is just a brilliant Halloween costume and I commend Gerke for taking it as far as he did.
ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES hits theaters this Christmas.
