Oldboy drops a green band trailer and another viral promo poster

The new green band trailer for OLDBOY is almost identical to the vicious red band version released last month, but there are a few fleeting shots that are different here. Neither trailer delves into the truly twisted ending of the film which I am happy for since audiences who are going to take a shot on this deserve to get the full punch to the gut.

Spike Lee is fully capable of turning in a film as good as THE 25TH HOUR or INSIDE MAN with OLDBOY. He has a top notch cast with Josh Brolin, Sharlto Copley, Samuel L. Jackson, and Elizabeth Olsen, so the sky is the limit. The film doesn't look like a cheap indie and should at least start the conversation for fans of the original movie.

An advertising executive is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment

The viral poster images come courtesy of the official website and have a nice gritty quality to them that I hope is retained for the final product. So far, like ROBOCOP, I am not completely sold on this remake but I am willing to give it a shot.

OLDBOY is slated to open November 27, 2013.
