James Spader will be Ultron in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Well now, that's an interesting choice!

Emmy award-winning actor James Spader will play the titular villain, Ultron, in THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. Recent rumors suggested that Paul Bettany's J.A.R.V.I.S. from the IRON MAN films would voice the artificial intelligence gone bad that is Ultron, but apparently that's not the case. Spader, well known for his deceptively evil roles certainly has the right voice for the robotic villain and will no doubt bring his usual blend of venemous intensity as the main villain.

Spader has dabbled in the dark side all the way back to his PRETTY IN PINK days and has since been in a number of significant films, including SEX, LIES, AND VIDEOTAPE, CRASH (Cronenberg version), WOLF, STARGATE, 2 DAYS IN THE VALLEY, and SECRETARY (amongst others). Spader has had tremendous luck on the small screen as well, especially for his roles in The Practice, Boston Legal, and The Office.

Sounds like an inspired and cool choice to me and a worthy use of Spader's talents.

THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON hits theaters on May 01, 2015.
