Idris Elba gives two reasons why you should never touch him in the first clip from Pacific Rim

Idris Elba is such a badass that it makes me sad that PACIFIC RIM is tracking so poorly. The world needs to know how awesome of an actor he is and this first clip from PACIFIC RIM is a perfect example.

The clip features Elba’s character PPDC Marshall Stacker Pentecost (awesome name) being confronted by Charlie Hunnam‘s Raleigh Becket regarding Pentecost’s adopted daughter Mako Mori, played by Rinko Kikuchi. The intensity that Elba possesses is in full tilt here and you cannot help but listen to what he has to say.

Check out the clip for why you should never touch Idris Elba:

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes–a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)–who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Guillermo Del Toro‘s monster movie has a massive budget and worrisome tracking at the box office. Warner Bros obviously had huge faith in the project but now it looks like only fanboys are going to attend. I know I will be in line to see it and I hope this clip is an indicator as to how good the screenplay is. Combine that with awesome special effects and we should be in for a fun time at the movies.

PACIFIC RIM opens July 12, 2013.
