Gravity

It's been seven years since Alfonso Cuaron directed CHILDREN OF MEN and I've been impatiently waiting for something, ANYTHING to be released for GRAVITY. There hasn't been many details about the director's upcoming science-fiction film besides a basic synopsis, a rumor that there's a seventeen minute uninterrupted opening shot and that the movie in general will contain some very impressive visuals.

Even though there's just seconds of footage from GRAVITY in this tease from ET it was enough for me to get pretty excited to see more from this film ASAP. Good news is we won't have to wait long: a full trailer should be released sometime tomorrow. There's literally seconds of footage so maybe I shouldn't get too pumped up. But GRAVITY looks looks like it could be a fantastic "smart" science-fiction film, and with a decent budget of $80 million and Cuaron helming the flick I can't help but NOT be excited for this movie. Take a look:

Synopsis:

Sandra Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone–tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

GRAVITY is in theaters on October 4th, 2013. I have a feeling this sucker is going to look gorgeous in IMAX.
