Check out clear shots of Peter Parker’s updated costume from the set of The Amazing Spider-man 2

In all three of Sam Raimi‘s SPIDER-MAN movies, Peter Parker’s only costume changes were from his initial wrestling outfit to his superhero suit and then to the black symbiote costume. Aside from that, his red and blue duds were consistent through the films. But, as we saw a while back, Marc Webb‘s Peter Parker has updated his look for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2. We previously saw the above shot showing the bigger, white eyes and more streamlined costume pattern, but now we have several behind the scenes shots from the current production showing us the extent of the changes.

Overall, the costume now looks like a more natural version of the Sam Raimi version. Gone is the basketball pattern all over the suit which has been replaced by a more solid red and blue pattern. The logo is still the updated style from the last movie. Overall, the new costume kind of looks like it could be pajamas. On the big screen it may look different than it does in these set photos, but it looks a lot less dramatic to me.

My biggest question has always been what the hell does Peter Parker make the costume out of? At least in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN we see him assembling it from materials around the house. Tobey Maguire‘s costume looked like it was made with industrial strength rubber, you know the kind Uncle Ben had lying around in the garage in primary colors.

Here’s that plot again:

Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds, life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

At this point, I am just waiting to see what the hell Rhino is going to look like. Otherwise, until we see some footage, I am reserving all judgement on THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, which will open May 2, 2014.
