Most in Hollywood left ARGO for dead when Ben Affleck was not nominated for Best Director at the Academy Awards. It seemed to be a foregone conclusion that the critical and box office success would end at the Golden Globes. But, then recognition came from the Directors Guild, the Producers Guild, and now the BAFTA for Best Picture. Suddenly it appears incredibly foolish that the Academy overlooked Affleck.

ARGO is now the frontrunner for the Oscar and will benefit from hitting Blu-ray a week before the awards are broadcast. In time for the home video release, Warner Bros has revealed a thirty minute feature on the making of ARGO. Titled ARGO: Declassified, you can watch the entire video right now on YouTube.

Plot: A dramatization of the 1980 joint CIA-Canadian secret operation to extract six fugitive American diplomatic personnel out of revolutionary Iran.

ARGO is not only the bright spot in Ben Affleck‘s career as a director, it was an opportunity for him to team up with producer George Clooney. Who would have thought these two leading men would turn into a pair of the top directors in Hollywood?

ARGO will be released on Blu-ray on February 19th.
