There’s no denying that Jackie Robinson was a fantastic player. He overcame adversity to be the first African American to join the MLB. Now he is one of the most well known players of any sport even 40 years after he passed away. So if anyone deserves a biopic, this man certainly does.
Brian Helgeland’s 42 is the story of Robinson’s humble beginnings and rise to the top. Harrison Ford stars as the Dodger’s GM Branch Rickey. This is an interesting role for Ford, who is a badass, but I’m trying to figure out if he fits the character or if his acting is a tad exaggerated. 42 also stars Ryan Merriman, Brad Beyer, Judy Tylor, Jon Bernthal, Nicole Beharie, Chadwick Boseman and T.R. Knight, and will release April 12, 2013.
