Abel Ferrara’s apocalypse drama 4:44 LAST DAY ON EARTH has a new movie poster, exclusive to JoBlo.com!

The film stars Willem Dafoe, Shanyn Leigh, Paul Hipp, and Natasha Lyonne and tells the story of a group of New Yorkers who know exactly when the world is going to end and how it affects their last hours on Earth.

There are three kinds of post-apocalytpic movies out there: comedies (SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD, ZOMBIELAND), balls out action (MAD MAX), or existential drama (MELANCHOLIA, ANOTHER EARTH).  The third type seems to be the popular one right now, especially since it is 2012.

I am a big fan of Abel Ferrara, especially the original BAD LIEUTENANT, THE FUNERAL, and THE KING OF NEW YORK.  His vastly underseen NEW ROSE HOTEL also featured Willem Dafoe.  Dafoe himself is one of the best in the industry today and can do no wrong in my book.

4:44 LAST DAY ON EARTH opens next week in New York and Los Angeles.  Stay tuned to JoBlo.com for an interview with Abel Ferarra and Willem Dafoe next week.
