While the Weinstein Company and Relativity Media battle it out in court, Relativity has brought someone on board to pen the script.

The guy they hired to script the “reinvention” is Alex Tse. This isn’t the first time that Tse has had to adapt original source material. He did it for 2009’s THE WATCHMEN and will also be writing the live action version of NINJA SCROLL.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 WEEKS LATER) will be handling helming duties and Bradley Cooper is still attached to star. Relativity had this to say about the pairing of Fresnadillo and Tse, “The original film is known for its breakthrough visual style as well as its unique production design and cinematography. Fresnadillo and Tse are perfectly suited to bring these beloved characters back to life, and to create a world worthy of this modern classic.”

Personally, I think that Tse and co-writer David Hayter did a great job of adapting and condensing THE WATCHMEN the way they did. So it should be interesting to see what Tse does with James O’Barr’s material.
