Chris Columbus acquires rights to The Cypress House

JoBloJoBlo

We get more directing out of Chris Columbus than we do screenwriting. Looks like he’s finally found a project to pen.

Columbus and 1492 Pictures have acquired the screen rights to Michael Koryta’s novel, CYPRESS HOUSE. The novel will be adapted by Columbus and he will produce alongside his 1492 partners, Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe.

The story is set along, “an isolated stretch of the Florida Gulf Coast during a devastating 1935 hurricane. The protagonist is a WWI veteran who’s plagued by premonitions of death for his traveling companions.”

I haven’t read the novel, but it’s got some damn good reviews if you check out its Amazon page. Dean Koontz approves. I mean, that’s gotta do something for you. If not, Stephen King apparently approves of too.

Anyone out there have a chance to read “The Cypress House”?
