Michael Shannon speaks candidly about getting the part of General Zod in Man of Steel

Apart from being a really great actor, I realized that what I also like about Michael Shannon – just yesterday confirmed as villain General Zod in Zack Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL – is his aloof, “I don’t give a f*ck” manner of being. Some people say he’s a little unhinged, but I say he’s just being real. It’s that attitude and that sort of toughness, however, that certainly does come bursting through in his best performances. It’s that certain something that makes him a scary on screen presence. Which is great, and the very reason I think Shannon is going to kill as Zod.

Fortunately for us, /Film came across a video clip of Shannon speaking at the RiverRun International Film Festival in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where we can see all that awesome Shannon-ness for ourselves. Here, the actor talks about how he came about getting the role, the process, and all that good movie stuff. Check it!

MAN OF STEEL – starring Shannon, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, and Kevin Costner – is currently scheduled for a December 2012 release.
