Usually the best predictor of Oscar success, the Producers Guild names nominees

JoBloJoBlo

The Producers Guild Awards are usually very good at forecasting who will be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars (as for who will win, that hasn’t always been as accurate). The PGA released their list of nominees for Best Picture and it looks very much like what you can expect when the Oscars announce their nominees. The only real surprise here is that Ben Affleck’s THE TOWN squeaked in, likely edging out either WINTER’S BONE or RABBIT HOLE. Here are the film nominees:

127 HOURS

BLACK SWAN

INCEPTION

THE FIGHTER

THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT

THE KING’S SPEECH

THE SOCIAL NETWORK

THE TOWN

TOY STORY 3

TRUE GRIT

It’s unfortunate that we are at the point with Oscar campaigning that we basically know who is going to be nominated before the nominations are announced. It takes a lot of the surprise and fun out of the Oscars but at least this year we have a really solid crop of films in the Top 10 (KIDS is the only film I disagree with but that’s neither here nor there).

Now let’s just say for a second that these were the Oscar nominees: who do you vote for for Best Picture?
