Jon Favreau may spend time in Disney’s Magic Kingdom for a movie about… Disney’s Magic Kingdom

JoBloJoBlo

As a filmmaker, Jon Favreau’s career has steered toward making big-budget crowd-pleasers, but it sounds like he might be aiming at actual human crowds.

Favreau is in talks to slip on his big white gloves and mouse ears to direct MAGIC KINGDOM, the Disney project about the theme park’s attractions coming alive (obviously in a different way than HAUNTED MANSION, THE COUNTRY BEARS and four PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movies).

The project has been kicking around for quite some time, and while “Battlestar Galactica” guy Ronald Moore wrote a draft, Favreau would bring in his own writer for the NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM-style story.

Favs is clearly talented working with both actors and special effects, and needs to occupy his time before IRON MAN 3 while Tony Stark helps assemble THE AVENGERS, but a two-hour FX-heavy theme park advertisement? Hmmm. Well, at least it’s not a COUPLES RETREAT sequel…
