Hoo-ah! Katie Holmes and Al Pacino join Sandler comedy

JoBloJoBlo

In Hollywood there are a few roles that actresses seem to get cast in. The heroine, the damsel in distress, the hot wife of Adam Sandler… With filming set to begin this fall on Sandler’s next comedy JACK AND JILL, Sony Pictures has set Katie Holmes to star in the pivotal role of Sandler’s arm candy. Holmes joins the not-so-rarefied list of actresses who’ve played Sandler’s love that includes Salma Hayek, Jessica Biel, Drew Barrymore, Marisa Tomei, Winona Ryder and in the upcoming JUST GO WITH IT, both Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman.

The film, which will star Sander and Al Pacino, follows a family man and his troublemaking twin sister. Before you get excited, no, Pacino won’t be playing the twin sister, that’s Sandler’s job. Pacino will be playing himself and how exactly that works into the plot remains to be seen. It doesn’t seem that a movie about an obnoxious woman (played by a man in drag) who forces herself on a suburban family lends itself to an appearance by Al Pacino but I suppose I’m wrong about that as it’s actually happening.

Sandler’s go-to director Dennis Dugan (CHUCK AND LARRY, GROWN UPS) will once again step behind the camera for the film. Pacino has only done three movies in the past five years and two of those were 88 MINUTES and RIGHTEOUS KILL, not so coincidentally two of the worst movies of the past five years. It should also be noted (though I’m not sure why) that this is Holmes’ first studio film since BATMAN BEGINS and her marriage to Tom Cruise.
