M. Night Shyamalan’s mystery project gets something of a plot

JoBloJoBlo

Buried in the Deadline article that listed BURIED writer Chris Sparling as having his nose buried in M. Night Shyamalan’s NIGHT CHRONICLES, there was a bit of info that was the first glimpse of the plot of Night’s new secret project.

All we previously knew about the film was that Shyamalan was said to be returing to his mystery roots (uh oh) and that Bruce Willis, Gwyneth Paltrow and Bradley Cooper were “loosely attached” to it. But any info about a secret M. Night project is good info, and here’s what Deadline heard.

I’m told Bradley Cooper would play a father on a desperate search for his missing child. It might stray into Taken terrain, but the father taps into some supernatural powers to aid the search.

Man, everyone wants to jump on this “desperate angry father” bandwagon huh? The supernatural powers bit could be interesting I suppose, depending on what that means.

But at long last, I finally, finally have zero expectations for an M. Night Shyamalan movie. After THE HAPPENING became literally my number one worst film of all-time, I have zero faith in the man to craft an effective mystery thriller anymore, so when this blows, I won’t be disappointed. I’m terrified of what he’s going to do with my beloved LAST AIRBENDER, but at least it’s a different genre and has good source material.
