The last person I would imagine writing a script for the big screen version of LAVERNE & SHIRLEY is Jamie Foxx.
Now I expected the sitcom to be made into a feature and I also expected Tina Fey and Amy Poehler rather than Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner.
During a fundraiser, Garry Marshall talked about the plan, “Jamie and I are trying to do it. He’s writing it. It’s a whole different modern day take on how they came up on the streets during difficult times. Laverne would be this very tough girl with a big ‘L’ tattooed on her arm. Jennifer Garner would play Laverne and Jessica Biel would play Shirley.”
Foxx also plans to write roles for the original pairing of Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams. However, Foxx asked Garry not to reveal that secret. I never really got into LAVERNE & SHIRLEY so I don’t know who they could possibly play. All I ask is that they find a spot for Michael McKean and David L. Lander. The few times I caught that show, they were the ones that always made me laugh.
I’m sort of thrown off with how odd this is. Any fans of the show into this?
