300 could come back to screens in 3D

Like everything that’s not a romcom or family drama (and I’m sure they’ll get the treatment eventually), filmmaker Zack Snyder’s upcoming animated movie LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS and his all-girl action flick SUCKER PUNCH are being configured for 3D. Warner Bros. is in a particular frenzy for the format.

But are studios sifting back through the archives for catalog titles to retrofit with an extra dimension?

It sounds like Snyder’s 300 is a likely candidate for 3D re-release, as it has already been partially converted to convince the director of the dazzle factor. “I saw maybe like a ten-minute section that they’d just done,” he tells Superhero Hype. “I haven’t seen the whole movie but they’re talking about doing the whole movie.”

Snyder also briefly talks about the proposed 300 follow-up, which would revolve around the 8-foot warrior fruit Xerxes. “I’m waiting on Frank (Miller) for the sequel to 300 and there’s a really good chance that will be the thing we do,” he says. “He’s been working hard, so he’s supposed to show me something really soon; actually in the next few months, he’s going to show me something.”

I’ll take it and I’ll adapt it and make it into a movie and I’ll write a screenplay, but I want him to do whatever he thinks. I’m not going to say I’m 100%, like that’s it, but on the other hand, I’m pretty confident it’s going to be awesome.”
