Aronofsky’s big Heist

Judging by his increasingly busy schedule, it looks like filmmaker Darren Aronofsky’s planned ROBOCOP remake may have tromped off to OCP’s storage vault for the time being.

Aronofsky is already working on his babe-filled supernatural thriller BLACK SWAN (starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis), and is now also eyeballing a gritty heist movie. The story is based on the Tonbridge Securitas robbery, which took place outside of London in February 2006 and resulted in a haul worth $85 million. Former UFC fighter “Lightning” Lee Murray was purportedly behind the job.

UK writer Kerry Williamson is working on the script for the XYZ Films project, which Aronofsky is producing (through his Protozoa) and may also direct.

The story is a very unique British heist tale with colorful London characters,” Aronofsky says. “I’ve always wanted to shoot in England and Kerry is the perfect writer to bring authenticity to this outrageous true bank job.”
