Patric is a Loser

Lately, I’ve realized that there are a few comics I’ve missed out on. Personally, I’m a “Batman” or horror comics type of girl, but with movies like KICK ASS
and SCOTT PILGRIM coming out I may need to broaden my horizons.

This also goes for THE LOSERS which has enlisted Jason Patric as their bad guy Max. THE LOSERS is a comic from Vertigo about a special forces group inside of the CIA aimed at certain tasks including the war on terror. After being betrayed by their handler Max and left for dead, the group take action. They remove their names from the secret CIA death list to plot against the CIA and get back at Max. The character of Max is supposedly on the same level as the one and only Keyser Söze. That’s a huge feat to accomplish.

Patric has been in a great number of amazing films like LOST BOYS, RUSH, NARC, and SLEEPERS. Patric was apparently hesitant about coming into the comic world though, “Let’s face it, the geeks have inherited the world, and if you want to be a player in this system, you have to be willing to do some of this.” Very true, Patric knows there’s a lot that goes along with it, “That means exposing myself to Comic-Con and the foreign marketplace, stuff I’ve resisted in the past. You can’t resist it now. But I wouldn’t do THE LOSERS if it wasn’t interesting to me as an actor. I can use my voice to help a young director further his talent, that is the main goal. If it allows me to make the kind of adult movies that have become endangered, helped by securing a certain rating with these kids…”

The cast so far is pretty good with actors Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana, and Columbus Short. This could certainly be an interesting movie to watch out for. Patric seems to be on track so far with wanting to keep the character realistic, “I will never go in with a box of toothpicks, to clean the scenery out of my teeth. For me, it’s always about behavior that is believable and thematically specific to the character’s situation, even if it’s a genre with a heightened reality.”
