Director Alexandre Aja certainly left his stamp on the horror genre with HAUTE TENSION, his HILLS HAVE EYES remake and the well-intentioned but clunky MIRRORS, but now he’s turning his sights on some literal hired guns.
Aja will direct THE CONTRACTOR, a dramatic action-thriller that takes place “in a world where the U.S. government can no longer afford to fight wars and authorizes private contractors to send a band of elite soldiers on missions around the world.”
I assume that “world” is largely the same as this one (do a Google search for “Blackwater,” “shadow army” or “American mercenaries”).
Aja isn’t turning his back on horror just yet — first he’ll do the 3D PIRANHA pseudo-remake for Dimension.
