With the live-action HALO movie apparently destined to drift eternally in the void, intended producer Peter Jackson and his chosen director Neill Blomkamp decided to make their own sci-fi epic, an original project titled DISTRICT 9.
The movie isn’t due until August, but a few cryptic viral sites have been kicking around and are now creeping to the forefront. The film’s mysterious plot apparently involves humans and extraterrestrials living together not quite harmoniously (with a large corporation as the apparent source of the strife), and it seems somewhat based on Blomkamp’s own freaky short film ALIVE IN JOBURG.
Aside from the actual District 9 site, other tie-ins seem to include Multinational United, MNU Spreads Lies, and Maths from Outer Space. Start piecing together the puzzle yourself.
