Right after Brad Pitt was finally confirmed as starring in Quentin Tarantino’s WWII flick INGLORIOUS BASTARDS (or BASTERDS), Variety dribbled out a few more names.
Perhaps most importantly to lovers of SPACED, SHAUN OF THE DEAD and all things geek, Simon Pegg’s name was among them. Pegg is in talks to portray British lieutenant Hicox. That should help assuage anyone who wasn’t overly excited about the casting thus far (Eli Roth and BJ Novak).
But wait, there’s more! David Krumholtz (SERENITY’s “Mr. Universe” and star of TV’s NUMB3RS) is also on the list of Basterds, and Tarantino wants to resurrect the career of Natassja Kinski (CAT PEOPLE, TERMINAL VELOCITY) by including her as a German film actress assisting the Pitt crew of Nazi-killers.
The project is scheduled to start shooting in October; expect the blanks among the remainder of the cast to get filled in quickly.
