Geek virtuoso Edgar Wright himself let us know that the DVD of his brilliant UK series SPACED is finally coming to North America on July 22nd! Fans of SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ will at long last get to see the show that served as the incubation chamber for such genius (and before the premise is stomped upon by McG’s unnecessary Americanized remake we grumblingly refer to as McSPACED).
Edgar tells us that finished artwork and signing announcements are still to come, but the 3-disc package will apparently include the 14 episodes and all the goodies from the UK special edition (including the awesome “Homage-O-Meter”), plus updated cast biographies, footage of the reunion from October 2007, and a new exclusive commentary with director Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, Jessica Hynes (nee Stevenson) and guests Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, Bill Hader, Matt Stone, Patton Oswalt and Diablo Cody.
For those yet to experience the bliss, the pop-culture packed SPACED follows an aspiring comic artist (Pegg) and a writer (series co-creator Jessica Stevenson) who pretend to be a pair in order to get an apartment meant for professional couples only.
