Adam Sandler’s new flick YOU DON’T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN is ostensibly a comedy, but I couldn’t really tell from the trailer. It was co-written by Judd Apatow, and I sure couldn’t tell that either… Then again, maybe your tolerance for Sandler’s banal brand of goofball humor is higher than mine.
The movie finds Sandler as a former Israeli commando (by way of France, judging from the incongruous accent) who gives up the military life in favor of a career as a New York hair stylist. It’s directed by Sandler cohort/repeat offender Dennis Dugan (BIG DADDY, I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CHUCK AND LARRY) and feels about 10 years stale yet is destined to make money. At least Emmanuelle Chriqui looks damn sweet…
