Fresh off playing the adult version of Stanley Uris in the recently wrapped IT: CHAPTER TWO, actor Andy Bean has now signed on to play the man who becomes Swamp Thing in the upcoming DC Universe series.

Based on the DC Comics character created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, Swamp Thing is set to star Crystal Reed as CDC Doctor Abby Arcane, who

investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.

Bean's character is biologist Alec Holland, who gets

caught in the cross-hairs when he discovers the mystery may connected to his work in the swamp. That leads him into conflict with dark forces, from which he emerges as the elemental hero known as Swamp Thing. As the monster struggles to hold onto his humanity, he must embrace what he has become in order to defend the town as well as the natural world at large.

The title character will be played by Derek Mears. Also in the cast are Maria Sten, Jeryl Prescott, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen, and Will Patton.

James Wan's company Atomic Monster is producing Swamp Thing in association with Warner Bros. Television. The first episode was written by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman and will be directed by Len Wiseman.

Wan, Verheiden, Dauberman, and Wiseman are executive producing the series, with Rob Hackett serving as co-producer.

This show is looking more and more promising all the time, so I'm excited to see how it's going to turn out. Swamp Thing will premiere on the DC Universe streaming service sometime in 2019.
