Neill Blomkamp shows 4-armed xenomorph from abandoned Alien 5

I was really excited for the ALIEN sequel director Neill Blomkamp was developing a couple years ago. A direct follow-up to ALIENS, it would have brought Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn back in the roles of Ripley and Hicks – and they were excited to do it.

Unfortunately, Blomkamp's idea was scrapped when Ridley Scott decided to take over the franchise and pump out a series of sequels to PROMETHEUS / prequels to the original ALIEN. An idea that may well be dead itself now, thanks to the disappointment of ALIEN: COVENANT and Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox.

It's very likely that all we'll ever see of Blomkamp's ALIEN film is the concept art he has shared over the years… and a sculpture of the type of xenomorph he was going to be bringing to the screen in the sequel.

Blomkamp recently took to his Instagram account to share a picture of a xenomorph sculpture made by Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff Jr. of Amalgamated Dynamics during the development of his abandoned movie. It looks really cool, as you would expect of a sculpture made by the special effects team that has worked on most of the ALIEN films, and it also reveals that Blomkamp's xenomorph would have been slightly different from the average one.

As you can see in the image below, this xenomorph has four arms, which is something only the alien Queens tend to have. There was no explanation given for why this xenomorph has sprouted some extra arms, so we can only continue to ponder what Blomkamp had in store for us.
