The hype is building for director Luca Guadagnino's remake of the 1977 Dario Argento classic SUSPIRIA, the release of which is still almost three months away. To help hold over fans until we can see the movie on November 2nd, Entertainment Weekly has shared an exclusive image of Tilda Swinton as this SUSPIRIA's version of the character Madame Blanc.

Swinton's co-stars in the remake, which was written by David Kajganich, include Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Lutz Ebersdorf, Chloë Grace Moretz, and original SUSPIRIA star Jessica Harper.

The synopsis:

A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the troupe's artistic director (Swinton), an ambitious young dancer (Johnson), and a grieving psychotherapist (Ebersdorf). Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up.

Johnson plays Susie Bannion, the character Harper played in the original. The actress told Entertainment Weekly that her Susie and Swinton's Madame Blanc develop an intense and beautiful student-teacher relationship, before "you discover that the dance academy is run by witches!"

Guadagnino added that,

Madame Blanc is a woman who is in a moment of conflict. The conflict between art and magic is something that is seen in her face."

This new version of the story is apparently quite an epic; with a running time of 152 minutes, it's more than 50 minutes longer than Argento's film. I look forward to seeing how Guadagnino blended the concepts and characters of SUSPIRIA with his own vision.
