Bad Times at the El Royale Chris Hemsworth

A trailer is expected to be released soon for THE CABIN THE WOODS director Drew Goddard's new film BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE, but in the meantime a batch of images have arrived online to give us our first looks at the characters played by Chris Hemsworth, Jeff Bridges, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, and Cynthia Erivo.

Referred to as a "mystery-box thriller" BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE is described by Goddard as his love letter to '60s film noir and crime fiction. Set at a dilapidated hotel in California's Lake Tahoe region, the story is about

a bunch of characters who check into a hotel on one night in 1969, and nobody is who they appear.

Over the course of one eventful night, each of these shady characters is offered a shot at redemption — that is, before everything goes to hell.

Lewis Pullman plays the hotel concierge, with Hemsworth as a cult leader, Bridges as a down-on-his-luck priest, Johnson as the older sister of an impressionable Southern girl played by Cailee Spaeny, Hamm as a vacuum cleaner salesman, and Erivo as a singer named Darlene Sweet.

BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE is scheduled to reach theatres on October 5th. There's not much to go on with this one beyond the cast, but that's enough for it to have my attention.

Take a look at the characters in the images here, which come to us courtesy of Entertainment Weekly and Empire.
