Is The CW looking to cast the Lost Boys series?

There has been a television series based on the 1987 film THE LOST BOYS in development for several months now. Veronica Mars / iZombie creator Rob Thomas is heading up the project, which would "explore what it really means to be immortal" over the course of what is envisioned to be a seven season run, each season taking place in a different decade. The story would begin in the 1960s and stretch into the 2020s by the final episode.

Season 1 will be set in San Francisco during the Summer of Love, 1967. Each season, the humans, the setting, the antagonist and the story all change — only the vampires, our Lost Boys, who like the Peter Pan characters never grow up, remain the same.

The ideas seemed well formed, the project has a recognizable title, and Thomas already has iZombie on The CW, so it was sort of surprising when the network decided not to move forward on The Lost Boys this season.

Now there are rumors that The CW might have given a green light to The Lost Boys after all, and not just for the production of a pilot. The folks over at SpoilerTV have heard that the project has been ordered to series.

There is definitely something Lost Boys related going on, as Central Casting Los Angeles has put out a casting call looking for people who resemble the vampires from the original film for a "non-union makeup test" that will include prosthetics and contact lenses.

I'd be interested in checking out a Lost Boys series if it were to make it to CW airwaves, so I'm looking forward to hearing more information on this project and finding out if the series actually is getting ready to roll. We'll keep you updated as more details are revealed.
